i don't do perfect..
***I don't do perfect***
For years I've battled with wanting things to be perfect or at least the appearance of perfect. Only to be disappointed & exhausted when I couldn't keep up with these imaginary standards. It's not just me right??
Six months ago I would not have posted this picture. Through fear of it not being perfect. Yes a lot of these standards I created in my own mind, but a large percentage I inherited or gained from society. When you think about we all see it everyday. In the newspapers, billboards, Social media and the television. The perfect car, the perfect bank account, the perfect family, air brushed skin and 'perfect hair'. It's constantly drummed into us every day.
We don't see ourselves as good enough, thin enough, rich enough or maybe you believe skin isn't even smooth enough! It's crazy but for a lot of us it's true.
The result is we stop putting ourselves out there and find ourselves saying "Maybe when I've lost a stone OR " I can't leave the house without make up!" We prevent ourselves from changing the world or starting an adventure with excuses.
Always putting it off..
"FORGETTING OUR SELF WORTH AND
PUTTING FEAR IN THE DRIVERS SEAT."
So here is the thing I've learnt...
Everything you need is right here right now. Inside of you. It's not a glossy picture or the perfect home. The fix isn't in the inside of a bottle, and you certainly will not find answers on the size label of your knickers.
As a society who thrives on our insecurities I am declaring we forget the word 'perfect' it's over used and overrated.
I prefer to think of myself as more 'perfectly flawed' than aiming for perfect.
It really is time for a Goddess Rebellion!
Creating your own world on your own terms by being the best version of yourself.
We don't need perfect we need raw real conversations, we need honesty and non judgement. That's what the world needs more of right now. The original you. Not the way the world says you should look & act. But just your original self.
I encourage you reading this to believe in yourself and see the goddess that you are inside & out.
But don't aim for perfect because I'll let you in on a little secret...
It doesn't exist.
