Fear is at its highest yet again and the collective talk (well in the U.K at least) goes something like this... - "Tax Rises! Seven months into a recession and no sign of it getting better!" - "I must get some candles in case the electric goes out over the winter" - "We are trying not to put the heating on for as long as possible, layer up people!" - "I have no clue what I am going to do about Christmas this year." The general the vibe is that money doesn't stretch as far as it used to and everything feels a little tight and depressing. The general the vibe is that money doesn't stretch as far as it used to and everything feels a little tight and depressing. Now we all know my views on the media and its fear driven narratives, however add into the mix that money is only an energy exchange in physical form I feel as if there is a small chance we can reframe this situation we find ourselves in; not only to flick the bird at the media based fear narrative but also to raise our vibration as we step fully into winter. Here are my thoughts and if you feel a little triggered ask yourself why This time of year is VERY consumer driven. Is it time to step off of consumer hamster wheel alittle? Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't want anyone to step off fully because they don't have the money (LOA), step off alittle because there is more to life than spending money on pointless items to wrap and give to someone because society says so. Call family members and declare its a 'Homemade Christmas' this year or that you are offering the gift of time. Gather at someones house and play board games or offer to help them with their DIY projects for an afternoon. The gift of time is the greatest gift we can give. From a personal perspective I refuse to play along with a narrative that we cannot afford to eat and heat our home; however on certain timelines this is the case for some households and this breaks my heart. In this case lets call on our communities, the ones we gathered with and lent upon during 2020. Check in on your neighbour, invite them in for a cup of tea or plate them up a meal if you have a spare portion. Let us use this fear narrative and reframe our idea of what 'giving' actually means to us. Does it involve shops? If it does then please shop small and local. Small business is dying and that leaves us with fewer options for purchasing in the future. If you can't afford to spend much cash at the moment, then talk to shop owners, send them well wishes and ask them how their day was. (The gift of time remember ). Letting small business know you care can keep them going on the harder days and then spend with them when you can. Buy something that will really mean something to someone or something they need is the new way rather than something meaningless for the sake of it. The days of multiple boots gift sets are long gone. We are on the cusp of great change for humanity and it is now more than ever that we get to choose the direction we are heading in.
